Wondering around..

As I wonder what is next to come, I find myself more and more just needing to shoot, it does't matter what I am shooting or even what the end result is.. I need to play and see what it feels like to NOT be in front of a computer all day building websites( the old way) making indesign portfolio pages or soundslides.. from this evening in Greensboro, summer is here and somehow I think I may miss this place... an attempt at photographic impressionism...

Finally

I finally spent some time with my landlords. they had me over for a BBQ Sunday night. they moved here from Pakistan in 1999. I have wanted to do a photo story on them since I moved here a year and a half ago and finaly did it. I hope to continue to spend more time with them before I move.

Rodeo Saturday Night

I love to shoot rodeo.. it is challenging, even more so once the sun goes down. I had a 285 with me for light, this is the best I got. Flash or no flash you cannot freeze the action of these horses at less than 1/250th. Next time I shoot rodeo I am bringing alien bees.

Tornado Saturday afternoon

I haven't seen a tornado in 20 years. I have never seen one in bright sun.. This one was blowing through a sand lot in Asheboro by the time I turned around it was almost gone.

Pig Picking Saturday afternoon

The Bethel Friends hael their semi- annual pig picking Saturday afternoon at the church. The event, held twice a year in April and October to raise money for needy members of the community.

I found these really cool folks at the Caraway race track about 11:45. I spent over an hour hanging out with them in the sun, got a little sunburn and learned a lot about racing.

The Circus

I have really been missing the daily newspaper assignment work so this weekend i gave myself an assignment to shoot as much as possible in a 48 hour period. I started with the circus Friday afternoon in Winston. I wanted to shoot everything but the performance. Here are few behind the scenes shots.

The Good

Here is what went well... Canon 70-200, can you say sharp... :)
It is way harder to shoot this than I ever thought it would be but a good lens and a camera that focuses where you tell it to really helps...

The Bad

I shot a steeplechase today and some went well and some did not ... here's what went bad... Nikon 300 P.O.S. lens.... can you say back focus??? :)

More Donkey Basket Ball

I shot a Donkey Basketball game about a month ago, and I made a soundslides out of it. After having several people watch it I found there were too many "holes" in it. Not enough of the fans and things like that. In other words I didn't tell the whole story. So when I heard that there was another game at South West Randolph High School I decided to go and "shoot for the holes" Since we have to do an "event" sound slides for John's class I thought this would be a good one.
