Here is what went well... Canon 70-200, can you say sharp... :)
It is way harder to shoot this than I ever thought it would be but a good lens and a camera that focuses where you tell it to really helps...

Great shots I espically like the one where the horse is about to fall!
The poor horsey! lol
Good timing. I imagine that's rough to shoot as you said. It's all the same and all fast so finding what's different is uber hard given the speed.
